The Right Way To Leave A Club

With the transfer window about to open players will be moving all over the place in a bid to boost their careers.

It's important to make a good impression with your new fans as they can make your job tremendously easier or more difficult. However one important element that is usually forgotten by neutrals of the transfer transaction is the way the player leaves his current club. Take Samir Nasri moving from Arsenal to Manchester City last year. He recently displayed one of the most disgusting and unprofessional ways to leave a club. He insulted the fans, his team-mates and the club as a whole. Some people are just disgusting in their approach to transferring clubs. Worshipped at Arsenal he decided to leave the club in search of bigger prospects. Nothing wrong with that. But if you are going to leave, leave with a bit of pride and self-respect.

One player who has always led by example is Thierry Henry. He showed the footballing world that if you repect the fans they'll respect you. Here's his goodbye video to Arsenal fans when he left for Barcelona:

That took up less than 2 minutes of his time, yet it meant the world to Arsenal fans. We need more professionalism from players like this. Perhaps then transferring players will be much better for everyone involved.
